Milo Yiannopoulos was deported to the United Kingdom on Friday, the Department of Homeland Security said on Saturday — a day after ICE arrested him at the airport in New Orleans. Yesterday this was an arrest with a removal order behind it. Today it is finished.

The facts underneath have not moved. He entered the United States legally in May 2019, the department says, and then overstayed; an immigration judge issued a final order of removal on 22 July after he failed to appear at his hearing. The Guardian adds his age, 41, which NBC News does not.

One small thing did change, and it is ours to record because we wrote it down yesterday. When we carried the arrest, the two accounts read 22 July differently — NBC News took it as the date of the hearing he missed, The Guardian as the date the order was issued. Today both write it the second way.

The Guardian also moves a step on the question of why he was in Louisiana. Both outlets said yesterday it was unclear; today The Guardian says he was believed to have been arrested on his way to a Ye concert, which took place at the Caesars Superdome that evening. NBC News still says it is not clear. We are not treating it as settled.

What The Guardian adds today is the shape of the feud. Laura Loomer, the far-right activist and Trump administration ally who claimed on Friday to have reported him to ICE, had been locked in a long-running quarrel with him. NBC News, for its part, notes without a figure that ICE agents are increasingly making immigration arrests at airports.
